Thanks to a new SharePoint performance whitepaper, we now know with certainty: even though the technical specs indicate you can store 10M items in a single list, the truth is: continue to keep your lists under 2000 items. Almost all CRUD operations perform well (surprisingly well sometimes), but delete operations take 50 seconds to complete! For one item!

I need to find some uniquely obnoxious way to indicate how long it takes to delete an item. MARQUEES to the rescue!
